Our courses offer you a chance to learn creative writing tips and techniques from the award-winning historical novelist Charlotte Betts and combine that with learning how to promote yourself and your work as an author with big brand copywriter, Danielle Auld.

Whatever your genre, we’ll share our knowledge with you on how to make your work shine, build an author profile and how to present your submission package to an agent.

Our learn creative writing courses and more advanced creative writing skills courses are all held a couple of miles South of Newbury, a mile or so from the A34. Once we receive your booking we’ll drop you an email with the full address of the venue and directions.

Charlotte Betts

Charlotte Betts

Charlotte Betts, winner of YouWriteOn Adult Book of the Year Award 2010, the Romantic Novelists’ Association’s Joan Hessayon Award 2011 and the RoNA’s Historical Category award for 2013 has just released her sixth historical novel.

With many other shortlistings under her belt, Charlotte has been making waves in the world of historical romance since signing with Piatkus in 2011.

Currently working on her seventh novel, The Palace of Lost Dreams, Charlotte co-founded Creative Writing Escapes to help other writers achieve their dreams of success and support the discovery of new literary talent.

Charlotte gives talks and workshops at conferences and to smaller groups and is a member of The Society of Authors, The Historical Novel Society and The Romantic Novelists’ Association.

The Apothecary’s Daughter, The Painter’s Apprentice, The Spice Merchant’s Wife, The Chateau on the Lake, The House in Quill Court and The Dressmaker’s Secret are all published by Piatkus.



Danielle Auld

Danielle Auld

Director of regional copywriting agency Complete Copywriting and writer for leading brands, including Hildon, IBM and Oxford County Council, Danielle develops highly targeted content to help businesses communicate their messages more effectively.

Increasing sales, click-through rates, and reader engagement, Danielle also works with a select number of authors to promote books and boost author profiles through PR, direct mail and social media.

Danielle's writing and reading intersts reside in the growing spy thriller market.
